. The official currency of Peru is the Nuevo sol (S/.) (PEN).The US dollar is accepted in most of lodgings, stores and restaurants according to the exchange rate. The Euros are accepted in some establishments and the pounds sterling only in some foreign exchange bureaus in the capital, Lima.

Payment with Credit Cards and Travellers Checks Credit cards are accepted in most of tourist establishments. The main cities of Peru have automated teller machines that accept different kind of cards. The credit cards of greater acceptance are American Express, Visa, Diners and MasterCard. The use of Travellers checks has limitations, so it is recommended to consult in the establishment if they are accepted before buying or consuming.

Climate and Appropriate Clothing for the Trip Regardless the season and the place you are going to visit it is recommended that during your stay in Peru you wear warm clothes, loose-fitting trousers, cotton T- shirts, mountain shoes, sport shoes, sun protection, hat and sun glasses.

Visa and Entry Permission The majority of citizens of countries of America and West Europe do not need visa to enter into Peru. The maximum period of stay is 90 days. To stay longer or with other purposes (residency, study, investigation, work, etc.) should request previously the corresponding visa in Peruvian consulates.
. The Electricity in Peru corresponds to 220 volts and 60 cycles (except in Arequipa where the current is of 50 cycles). Most of hotels of four and five stars offer electricity of 110 volts too. In Peru, plugs have two entries. It is necessary to carry an adapter for your electrical equipments.

During your visit to Peru is important to take the precautions like in world’s main cities and tourist destinations, be careful with your belongings in public places or avoid lonely places during nights. Moreover, it is recommended to take the followings precautions:
- To consider the option to make a copy of your passport, ticket, numbers of credit card, as well as to leave your personal documents in the custody of the hotel.
- To find out which are the unsafe places of each city and try not to go there; specially by night.
- If you need to exchange money, go to banks, foreign exchange bureaus or in the hotel. Avoid to do it on the street.
- Use only registered taxis or ask for it in your lodgings.

To do adventure sports, you should obtain information about suitable places for each sport and contract only services of companies or experts for the provision of equipment and the route guidance.
